Our Lions Club received it's Charter on Thursday, November 17, 1949 at Pine Lodge, Bristol, Quebec in the heart of the Ottawa Valley.
The Club was sponsored by The Pontiac Lions Club who serve the town of Campbell's Bay, Quebec and surounding area.
Our Charter President was Lion Harwood Argue. 41 service minded men rose to the call We Serve.
The Shawville Lions meet for dinner from the second Thursday in September, until the fourth Thursday in June. We do not hold dinner meetings during July and August.
Our Executive Board meets on the third Thursday each month.
We welcome visiting Lions to join us for fellowship at our dinner meetings.
Some of our fund raising projects are:
Canada Day Celebrations, which include A Canada Day Breakfast, A parade, and fun events for our community friends.
We operate our Lions Booth during the fall fair on Labour Day Weekend, we also have a Fair Draw, with the prizes drawn on the Sunday evening of the fair, at 11:00 p.m.
We cut and sell Christmas Trees.
What would Christmas be without Breakfast with Santa.
Of course we hold a New Years Eve Dance and Party.
We enjoy serving our Community in many ways.
We make contibutions to LCIF.
Lions Foundation of Canada
The construction of the Pontiac Reception Centre for Seniors was one of our first major projects.
The Pontiac Hospital C.T. Scan Machine was a $900,000.00 project, completed in two and half years.
Lions B.A.I.T Program.
Pontiac Snowsuit Fund
Lions Effective Speaking. The largest Effective Speaking Contest in Canada.
Operation Go Home
Santa's visit to the Pontiac Community Hospital and Pontiac Reception Centre
In 2001 we pledged $6000.00 over three years to the Pontiac High School Welding Program.
In 2003 we donated $3000.00 to the renovation program of our local Youth Center, which is now open.
Our latest venture is a project of assisting with the purchase of a New Bus for the Pontiac Reception Center to transport Seniors to diffferent events in our area. The price tag is Approx. $95,000.00. This project was completed in June 2004.
We wished Janet McCord a local handy capped volunteer a Merry Christmas 2003, with a motorized scooter.

One of our projects in 2007 was a donation of $5000.00 to assist with the purchase of new bucket truck for the Shawville/Clarendon Fire Dept.
